Queen Elizabeth I England.  17th century. John Donne,  poet , satirist, cleric of the Anglican Church, a contemporary of Shakespeare,  a thinker lightyears ahead of his time.  Poem:       NO MAN IS AN ISLAND

No man is an island

entire of itself

each is a piece of the continent

each man’s death diminishes me

for i am involved in mankind

therefore, send not to know
